And the Winner Is…..

Birdhouse in the Snow

Bird feeder in the snow

Yes, I know, I was supposed to announce this yesterday, but if you live anywhere from Virginia to New England you probably already know how I spent my day yesterday–shoveling.

The Philadelphia area was blessed with about 2 feet of snow, which we valiantly attempted to keep off our stairs and sidewalk. It was a never-ending job, but our neighbors had an impromptu cocktail party at the end of the day to celebrate the season and my birthday.

Thankfully the snow has stopped and now we can get back to business, the business of my being a hobbit. Thank you to all my favorite Ecosystem Gardeners and those of you who voted for them.

Yesterday when I pulled the winners, Helen and Michelle were in a tie. So I had someone choose them out of a hat. And, drumroll please……..Helen’s Haven has the honor of being this year’s favorite Ecosystem Garden.

As for me, I love every one of these gardens and every gardener who volunteered to share their garden with us. Please, a round of applause for them all.

And a second drumroll………to hear which one of you wonderful folks who took the time to participate in this by leaving a comment. The randomly chosen winning comment is–Lisa Gustavson.

So congratulations Helen and Lisa. I’ll be contacting you to get your mailing details so I can get a copy of the 2010 Ecosystem Gardening  Calendar off to you. Follow them on Twitter @HelenYoest @getinthegarden or read their fabulous blogs: Helen’s Gardening with Confidence and Lisa’s Get in the Garden.

And to every one else, thank you for reading and for the wonderful comments you all leave here for us to enjoy. Also, enjoy the beautiful snow! It seems we will have a white Christmas after all.

Thanks Carole, I’m surprised it wasn’t an all-way tie, all the gardens are unique and giving. That’s what it is all about – give to the environment, not take.

I guess it was just my lucky day. H.

PS – Love the pic of the birdfeeder in snow. When our stuff gets snow on like that, we say “they’ve got their hats on!” LOL

    6. Lisa Gustavson says:

Thanks so much for the prize, what a thrill! Thank you for the inspiration as well, the contest was a wonderful way to share the talent and dedication of fellow gardeners in their plots of this big garden we all share. Kudos to all!
