Well, I’ve gone and done it. I’ve taken the plunge into Facebook, with a brand new fan page for Ecosystem Gardening.
I have put this off for a long time, and you may ask, “Why now?” Well, it seems like as good a time as any, don’t you think?
Plus, some of my favorite writers, those whose work gets showcased repeatedly in the Best of the Web have very active Facebook pages such as:
- Gardening With Confidence
- Seasonal Wisdom
- Therapeutic Landscapes
- Get in the Garden
- Garden and the Good Life
So I’ve decided to keep up with my friends.
I’d love to know what you think, and if you’re so moved, to become a fan, make a comment, or start a discussion. Thanks!

Well, so far I’m not active on Facebook. I’ll look forward to hearing how it goes for you. Have fun with friends there

Hi Carole,
I do have a question for you on your creation of the fan page – did you already have a personal account, and then make fan page, or did you just start with a business fan page? I already have a personal account, so just trying to figure out how to keep the gardening for nature separate. I would love to hear your response and reasoning for.
Thanks so much, and the page looks awesome!

Kathy, I love your post “Every Little Bit Helps.” You are so right that if we all did just one thing, we could collectively make a big difference!
I have a personal page that I use for family and friends, but it wouldn’t present a very professional appearance. So I got another personal account with my professional email and created the fan page from there.
That way I can have a family fun page and a more professional page, which seemed like the best way to resolve family/friends who may not want to see the daily stream for Ecosystem Gardening.
I’m working on a project that will be using the fanpage as a base for some interactive ideas, so the fanpage is the first step. I’m very excited…..can’t wait to get it all together so I can launch it.
Oh, I was under the impression that having two separate accounts was against the TOS, even if one was for business. I will have to look into it more I guess!
I am looking forward to seeing what you new project is all about!

Carole,
I’ve been tinkering with a fan page for my business too. I’m still not entirely sure how to use it, but after reading your blog I decided to go ahead and publish it.
I set it up with the intention to feature general landscaping issues so that I can keep my blog focused on native plants.
