Missing my friends who are in Veracruz for the River of Raptors

The River of Raptors in Veracruz

I had intended to write a garden journal entry to tell you about the birds, butterflies, and flowers still in bloom in my garden.

Instead, I have a real treat for you bird lovers out there.

I was feeling a little sorry for myself because a bunch of my friends are in Veracruz right now to experience the amazing phenomenom that is the River of Raptors.

I’ve had the honor of participating in this tour before and I totally recommend it to anyone.

Veracruz is the site of the largest raptor migration in the world. In addition, many other of “our” birds pass through on their way to South America.

I’ve made a new page as a tribute to my friends and to share with you. Experience the River of Raptors here.

Now, you may ask, what does the Veracruz River of Raptors have to do with your garden? Those birds that are streaming through Veracruz now spent the breeding season here in the north, maybe even in your garden.

In order to survive such a trip birds need habitat, which we can create for them in our gardens.

Here’s some resources to create welcoming habitat for our migrating avian friends:
