This week’s best of the web is about Lawn reform because it was much in the blogosphere this week. I’ve already written about my views on the American Lawn, so it will come as no surprise to you that I’m totally in favor of all efforts to reduce lawns because they provide so little habitat for wildlife.
Here is this week’s Best of the Web:
- Susan Harris, of Sustainable Gardening Blog, has teamed up with 8 other bloggers to form the Lawn Reform Coalition. Read about this exciting new site in “How I Spent my Summer Vacation.”
- Susan Morrison, of the not-to-be-missed Blue Planet Garden Blog, also wrote about the launch of the Lawn Reform Coalition with the announcement of a contest to win a fabulous book, The American Meadow Garden. For details, see Lawn Reform Blog Contest: I used to have a lawn, but now I have…
- David Schmetterling, of Montana Wildlife Gardener, entered this contest with his post “I used to have a lawn, but now I have…“
- For a great discussion of the water conservation implications of lawns, visit the Grassroots Program.
- A fabulous resource for shrinking your lawn and making better environmental choices, see LessLawn.
Hope you enjoyed this week’s best of the web. What are you doing too reduce your lawn?

Hi and thanks for carrying the word. I think that Grassroots Program link above will work if the extra “http” is removed.
Keep up the good work. S

Thank you, Susan, for creating this very important resource!
What a great list of resources. I’m on my own little quest to reduce lawn, starting in my own front and back yard. I’m always looking for information. These are great links. Thanks again

Thanks, Alison. Reducing our lawns is one of the most helpful things we can do to benefit wildlife and create a healthy environment.
