The Interview That Launched a Dream

Helen Yoest of Gardening With ConfidenceI told you about how a long-time dream of mine to develop a community of gardeners to redefine what is beautiful in the wildlife garden came about while Helen Yoest interviewed me for her show on WebTalkRadio. And I’m so thrilled at the response we’re getting at Beautiful Wildlife Garden.

The exciting news is that interview that led to the launching of Beautiful Wildlife Garden is now live at WebTalkRadio.

Helen and I talked about how the name “Ecosystem Gardening” came about and how your garden is an ecosystem and everything you do there is connected. Some choices will benefit wildlife in your garden, while other choices will harm them.

Then we talk about the 5 pillars of Ecosystem Gardening:

  1. Plant more locally native plants
  2. Remove invasive plants
  3. Use sustainable practices
  4. Develop healthy soil
  5. Manage rainwater where it falls on your property, and keep it out of your municipal stormwater system

When you start paying attention to these 5 areas, you will automatically begin to see more wildlife in your garden.

I really hope you enjoy the interview. It was a lot of fun.

And make sure to check out Gardening With Confidence, Helen Yoest’s informative and fun blog, and follow @HelenYoest on twitter.

Join in the conversation at the Ecosystem Gardening Community forum. Meet other wildlife gardeners from around the country, share your tips and tricks, and be part of the community.
