Ecosystem Gardening Best of the Web #13

Eastern Meadowlark

Ecosystem Gardening for wildlife

My weekly collection of the best resources from around the web, including the things I found most interesting, remarkable, or grabbed my attention.

Part Five of Doug Tallamy’s Timber Press interview is live. View the whole series at Bringing Nature Home to Your Ecosystem Garden.

@habitatgarden brings us another winner with a great citizen science project: The Garden Bee Sunflower Project. It’s a simple way to help kids learn the value of science, understand pollination, and identify bees.

@NaturalPapa has found a really cool nature site with a video of a Timber Rattlesnake Maternity den. I know you may have no appreciation of snakes, but understanding the role of ALL the inhabitants of an ecosystem is very important. Plus, this is amazing!

The National Wildlife Federation has joined forces with Toys for Tots to protect wildlife and and introduce children to the wonders of the wild. This is a great way to help children and wildlife during this holiday season. Follow @NWF

And here’s what happened at Ecosystem Gardening this week:

Just in time for your holiday shopping, I’ve created some calendars, notecards, and other gifts from the photos I’ve taken for Ecosystem Gardening. Visit the CB for Wildlife and Nature photo store. Thank you so much for showing your support!

The Most Hated Plant this week is the highly invasive Oriental Bittersweet. Find out why this plant is such a problem, especially at the holidays.

Take a tour through the Ecosystem Gardens in the showcase. And don’t forget, we want to see YOUR garden next.

Learn How sustainable landscapes give back: to wildlife, to the health of the environment, and to human enjoyment.

And just what the heck is Ecosystem Gardening, anyway? Join the conversation.
