The Accidental Organic Gardener

Welcome to Part 3 of my interview with Chris McLaughlin, author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Composting.

In Part 1, Composting and Healthy Soil, Chris discussed why composting is the ultimate green action, because we are creating more earth, saving water, reducing the waste that goes to landfills, and reducing our use of fossil fuel.

Part 2, How to Start Your Compost Pile, showed us how easy it is to begin composting, what constitutes “green” and “brown” composting material, and the importance of carbon and nitrogen to soil and plant health. We also discussed whether testing you soil is a prerequisite, and the answer may surprise you!

In this episode, we will talk about how to compost all of those leaves in autumn, a hysterically funny rant about bunnies, bunny poop, and composting, and how Chris became an “accidental” organic gardener:
